Michelle Brown resides in Musgravetown, Newfoundland and Labrador, with her husband Tony and young son, Stephen. Michelle has worked in the community economic development field for the past 15 years. In 2003, she completed the Pan Provincial Pilot Project to implement the Bridging the Gap: From Education to Employment Model with 6 business partners in Economic Zones 15, 11, 9, and 4. She is currently working with 5 new business partners to implement this concept again in 4 different regions of the province. Michelle is the catalyst behind the development and the design of the Bridging the Gap Model and with the help of community partners has achieved tremendous success at the local and provincial levels.
In 2001 at the first Provincial Rural EXPO, Michelle and the Random North Development Association were the recipients of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador Innovations in Education Award. Michelle in 2004 also won the Canada Post National Educator's Award. Michelle has certificates in Community Development and Community Economic Development from the University of Waterloo and Keyin College.
