Representation on the Board of Directors

At the NALD BOARD OF DIRECTORS meeting held December 8 and 9, 2006, the Board of Directors of NALD decided that representation on the board of directors would be as follows:

Persons who have experience/influence from the following compatible organizations/ field such as:

Adult Literacy (5 people)
Workplace/Workforce Literacy (5 people)
Special Interests (3 people)
Chief Executive Officer
Host Organization

to have up to a maximum of fifteen (15) people.

NALD is to identify organizations with which to build partnerships and on-going collaboration, based on strategic and specific needs. NALD will structure the requirements and work with the organization to select an appropriate person.

The following conditions will apply:

Board members will serve a 3-year term.
Terms can be renewed to a maximum of 3 terms (initial appointment plus 2 renewals).
Staggered renewal of the Board will occur.
There will be no term limits for the Chief Executive Officer and for the representative from the Host Institution.

Members must:

have an interest and demonstrated commitment to adult literacy,
be supportive of a national electronic resource network for literacy, and
be supportive of NALD's current mandate and mission.
