- Bookbag Reading Program - Literacy focused activities for preschool children
ages 2-5 years and their caregivers. Children are supplied with
a cloth bookbag in which to carry and store books that are borrowed
from the program each week.
- School Newspaper - We work with Grade 5 & 6 children to create monthly school newspapers. The children write articles that are of interest to them and it is all put together in the format of a newspaper. The newspapers are distributed to all the children at both Cape Smokey and North Highlands Elementary Schools.
- Other Programs - Each year we offer various programs that may be of interest to both parents and children. In the past we have offered programs such as Reading Clubs, Scrapbooking Workshops, Drama Workshops, etc. Watch our postings for more fun family activities.
Seniors' Literacy Programs
- In 2007-08 we offered a twelve week Seniors’ Health Literacy program. This consisted of a variety of workshops that were of interest to seniors in the Bay St. Lawrence area. We are applying for funding again this year to offer the program in the Ingonish area. Watch for postings in the near future.
