REPORT ON "TIPS AND TOOLS FOR HOLDING AN ONLINE WORKSHOP" - http://www.nald.ca/fulltext/tiptool/cover.htm or View in PDF format (587k)

Community Literacy of Ontario and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs developed and delivered an innovative online workshop on board / staff relations. The workshop was created for the staff, directors, and volunteers of Community Literacy Agencies in Ontario.

Eight course modules were developed for this workshop. Workshop facilitators responded to questions and encouraged a lively online discussion. It was delivered over a two-month period from October 15 - December 15, 1998. A total of 75 people participated.

Because online delivery of workshops is so new, CLO and OMAFRA included a strong evaluative component to this workshop. We would like to share what we have learned with interested colleagues. Accordingly, we are developing a report on the successes and challenges of holding an online workshop for interested colleagues. This report will be complete by March 31, 1999.

This report covers information on the tips, tools, and challenges of :

  1. Planning the workshop
  2. Recruiting workshop participants
  3. Developing online workshop modules
  4. Facilitating an online discussion
  5. Evaluating the workshop

Cost: $20 (includes shipping, handling and taxes)
