If you and your students have lots of extra time on your hands, you can search for and find tons of free
clipart on the Internet. You need to have lots of time and patience though because many of these sites make you
jump through hoops before you get to their collection of graphics. These sites often contain lots of advertisements
and display only a few graphics on each page forcing you to download several webpages in order to view
a small collection of graphics. The Discovery Channel’s Clip Art Gallery at http://school.discovery.com/clipart/
is a pleasant exception to this rule. The site loads relatively quickly because of the lack of third-party graphics.
The graphics are organized into categories such as Food, Health & Safety, Language Arts, Sports, Technology,
Math, and Holidays. Each category contains approximately 25 black and white drawings. The drawings are
very clear and generally realistic so great for use in printed educational materials.
