Adult Learning Programs


The Level I Program

The Level I Program, located in Enfield, offers individual support in small groups or one-on-one. It is a foundation program with the focus on life-skills, reading, writing and basic math. It is for people who have below grade 6, and who may have special needs in regard to learning.

The Level II Program

The Level II Program, located in Elmsdale, is offered in a small group classroom setting. It is for people who have fairly good reading, writing, and comprehension skills. It offers one-on-one support as required and covers academic skills at the grade 7 and 8 levels. This program is for people who have been out of school for many years and feel they need a good review before moving on to a higher level program.

The Level III Program

The Level III Program, located in Elmsdale is offered in a classroom setting. Grade 9 and 10 academic work is covered. It is intended for people who have good reading, writing, comprehension, and independent learning skills. It helps prepare people for going on to Adult High School, the ALP Level IV program at Community College, or for writing the GED tests.

Tutor Learner Match

In some cases learners are not able to access classroom instruction. We may be able to match these learners with Volunteer Tutors to work with them to develop the desired skills. We always welcome new Volunteer Tutors.

Transportation Service

The goal of the East Hants Alternative Transportation Service (EHATS) is to offer an affordable alternative transportation service to all residents of East Hants including those who are challenged by a lack of transportation due to disability, age or social/economic disadvantages.
