National Adult Literacy Database

Feature of the month | July 2009

The website Possibilities is a free bilingual online resource centre set up to help Toronto job seekers, career practitioners and adult learners.

An initiative of Findhelp Information Services, Possibilities began its life in the mid-1980s as a newsletter (PosAbilities) started by the centre’s current employment expert Susan Stone, then an employment counsellor with the City of Toronto’s social services department. Three years ago the site became bilingual when Possibilités was created.

In addition to providing information on employment, education and training opportunities, Possibilities is entertaining. It features lively job hunt and career profile articles, a blog known as P.S. (PossScript: news and views on employment) along with weekly employment tips, a job board and learning tools to assist visitors with resumés, cover letters, interviews and networking.

Possibilities is an Employment Ontario project funded in part by the Government of Canada. Users must register to fully take advantage of the information and services available through the site.
