FESA News
Family Literacy Day takes place each year on January 27th. Beginning on January 20th the Further Education Society will once again be celebrating Family Literacy Day with the start of its annual, week-long Reading Challenge. During the week leading up to Family Literacy Day, for every 15 minutes that a book is read or a story shared, we ask the public to come to this page and press the "Count Yourself In!” button below to add minutes to our reading tally. Last year, thanks to the very supportive partnership with Walmart and the enthusiastic support of the Calgary Stampeders, we were able to meet with a large number of families out shopping in Walmart and were able to provide families with a fun filled story-time. With your help we can exceed last year’s total of Do your part to help promote the importance of reading and learning as a family, and to help reduce Canada’s low literacy rate. The 2009 CanWest Raise-A-Reader Day FESA is happy to have been selected as a beneficiary of the Calgary Herald’s 2009 Raise-A-Reader campaign. On Wednesday, September 23rd, FESA participated in the celebration of literacy organised by the Calgary Herald. We would like to thank the Calgary Herald for recognizing FESA’s work in the community. |
