BOOKMATES FAMILY LITERACY MANUAL
This four part manual includes the following:
Part 1: Bookmates Family Literacy Program. A detailed overview of this program which dates back to 1983. This section includes the rationale and a detailed account of the workings of this program.
Part 2: Bookmates' Volunteers Program Manual. Details the role of the volunteers and the activities for which they are responsible.
Part 3: The Parents' Perspective. 4 family workshops are described, giving background information, actual details of the workshop and suggestions for family activities. Part 4: Program Resources and Materials. Includes an excellent evaluation form, a bibliography and worksheets. It also has good examples of overheads illustrating how children develop writing skills.
