I came from a family that was very poor. There were fifteen children in the family. I had to go to work when I was thirteen years old. I went fishing on scallop boats. I could not read or write very well but I was a very hard worker. I hung around people that I should never have been around. In time I got away from these people. As I got older, things started to look up. I worked out West.
When I got home, I thought that I would go back to school. So, I went to the EI office to see if they would put me into upgrading courses. After awhile they got me into the upgrading course.
I am very glad I went back to school. It doesn't matter what someone says, it's what you want to do that's important. So, I encourage you not to give up on your goal in life. Go and do it. Someday, you will not be sorry for what you have done.
Since I have been back in school, my mind has opened up. There are things that I did not know and I am doing quite well. The teachers are very good. If I have a problem, they are all willing to help me. Since I came to school my family is very proud of me. They think that I am doing a good job. They are 100% with me to get a better job in the future.
