Weight Loss Challenge
Kerry Ann Fitzpatrick – Halifax Community Learning Network

My name is Kerry Ann Fitzpatrick. It's very hard to lose weight. Food can be very addicting and it's a very hard challenge to overcome. It takes a lot of motivation and willpower. It can be very stressful, you feel like nothing fits you and people make fun of you. Also, it makes you regret things, everyday, when you wake up in the morning.

I've tried a lot of things. Me and my good friend Jenny joined the gym, but it just wasn't the best thing for me. I have also tried many diets, so now I've decided to see a dietician to see what I can do. He name is Anna. Anna tries to help me as much as she possible can. Sometimes I look in the mirror and feel like crying, because being overweight can be really depressing. It is not easy living like this day-to-day. It's a new year, a new beginning, it's 2009.

Everything I do upsets me. Every time I have chips or any other junk food around my son Cody, it doesn't show him a good example. I have to make sure I eat better not just for myself and my satisfaction but for my son, too. He's all that matters to me in the end. I find a treat week helps, but I also find that the bad food is the hardest challenge. So, I'm hoping my dietician can help me through this. One evening I was watching Oprah and she was talking about weight loss and how hard it is to lose weight after you've gained it, and you know what? She was right about everything she said, and I see things as "you make life what you want it to be."
