WHEREAS the Canadian Commission for UNESCO has declared March 2 through 9, International Adult Learners' Week and Nova Scotia joins UNESCO and over 40 countries in celebrating a campaign encouraging life long learning; and;
WHEREAS the Department of Labour and Workforce Development joins its many partners in providing adult learning opportunities and services to Nova Scotians who wish to upgrade their knowledge and skills; and
WHEREAS adult learners take it upon themselves to learn new skills to ensure they are ready to meet the changing demands of the labour market; and
WHEREAS Nova Scotians will be poised to meet the challenges leading to a well-balanced, skilled and knowledgeable labour force;
THEREFORE be it resolved that I, Rodney J. MacDonald, Premier of Nova Scotia, do hereby proclaim the week of March 2nd – 9th, 2009 to be "Adult Learners' Week"
in the Province of Nova Scotia.
