In Spring 2001 MCL's Learners Advisory Network (LAN) decided to gather stories from learners across Canada. They wanted to bring true stories from literacy learners to the attention of politicians at the annual Literacy Action Day that fall. Their aim was to make literacy issues 'come alive' for the politicians and others who read the book.

During the spring and summer the call went out to learners and by Fall over 200 stories had been received by MCL from individuals and whole classes. In 2002, another 100 stories were added. Now this document is an important part of the traveling MCL display.

The LAN and MCL are very grateful to all the learners, tutors and administrators who took time to work with us on this project.
