When I leave this harbor
tomorrow, across the wide
ocean
to go. I leave behind
my love ones, and everyone
that I love so.
Farewell to old shores of Fogo,
farewell my one true
friend.
Wherever I may be I'll always
be true to thee.
The fishing is no more, so
away from these shores I must
go.
To look for work
wherever it may be.
I'm so sad to be
leaving behind
my dear family.
There's a dark cloud of sorrow
hanging over me. There's
a lot of
weight on my mind, for I know
there's a family loving me
truly
In old Fogo I'm leaving behind.
