*FIRST 12 WEEKS OR FIRST 3 MONTHS)
These symptoms are normal
- You are tired. This may improve by the fourth month. Your body is working hard, making a baby.
- You can't sleep. Try sleeping on your side - it's best for you while you are pregnant.
- You may have nausea* or "morning sickness." It may last all day. This usually gets better after the third
month. Try drinking nutritious liquids (milk shakes, soup) instead of food. Eat small, healthy snacks instead of
big meals. Eat some crackers before you get up. You need to eat to feed the baby.
Are you eating healthy meals? This is important. Also, take a pre-natal vitamin once a day
(not more). Your doctor will tell you what kind to take.
Make sure that you drink 8 glasses of water or juice a day.
- You may pee more. It may improve after the fourth month, when the uterus and baby rise.
- You may have lots of saliva (drool) in your mouth.
- You may crave some foods, but other foods make you feel sick!
- Your boobs are larger, more tender. There may be changes in colour and you may see more veins.*
- Your moods may change. You may feel mood swings or depression. See your doctor if you feel down for more
than two weeks.
