The Rabbit and the Carrots

By: Coltin, Torin, and Kourtney

Rabbit hopped across the field with thoughts of carrots dancing in his head. It was lunch time and he had decided today was the day to visit the carrot patch. Rabbit had finally found the courage to go to Mr. Crab’s garden. Mr. Crab took great pride in his garden and had many traps and gadgets set to keep rabbits away but Rabbit had a plan. He…

… thought if he could find a metal detector, he could avoid the traps. Suddenly, he remembered that he had seen Mr. Crab himself using one. The search was on to find it. Rabbit hopped into the barn for a quick look, and there it was, sitting by Mr. Crab’s coffee cup. Rabbit took it to the garden and started searching. Beep, beep went the detector, and Rabbit hopped to the left. Then beep, beep, and Rabbit hopped to the right. There was the patch of big, crunchy carrots. He put the metal detector down and started feasting. After hours of eating, he was exhausted and full. He fell asleep.

When Mr. Crab looked in the garden, there was Rabbit fast asleep by the metal detector. Mr. Crab was so impressed with Rabbit’s ability to outwit him that he let him get away. Rabbit lived happily ever after.
