The Rabbit and the CarrotsBy: Corbin and HannaRabbit hopped across the field with thoughts of carrots dancing in his head. It was lunch time and he had decided today was the day to visit the carrot patch. Rabbit had finally found the courage to go to Mr. Crab’s garden. Mr. Crab took great pride in his garden and had many traps and gadgets set to keep rabbits away but Rabbit had a plan. He… … had a blue jacket with lots of pockets, and the pockets were filled with stones. Whenever he saw something suspicious – maybe a trap – he threw a stone at it. This way, he didn’t get caught and made it to the best carrots. Feasting away, Rabbit didn’t notice Mr. Crab. Mr. Crab saw Rabbit and tried to catch him with a net. Mr. Crab jumped at Rabbit with the net and he was caught! Mr. Crab took Rabbit to his shed. In the shed, Rabbit noticed pots piled up all over. He still had his pocketful of stones, so he threw one at a pile of pots. They came tumbling down and knocked out Mr. Crab. Still in the net, Rabbit spied a mouse – a mouse Rabbit knew and who owed his life to Rabbit. The mouse chewed the net and released Rabbit. Rabbit bolted out the open door and back to the carrot patch. He grabbed a gigantic carrot and took off to safety. ![]() |
