FROSTBITE
- Frostbite occurs when skin has been
overexposed to the
cold so that the tissues (not Kleenex, but tiny cells that make up your skin)
have been frozen. Frostbitten skin will feel numb and will turn red and will he
painful as it warms up. Serious frostbite needs to be treated right away by a
doctor. You can treat frostbite yourself by first getting out of the cold, then
gently warming the frostbitten area by putting it in contact with warm skin....
do not rub. Do not use a heating pad and never stick the frostbitten area in
hot water.
