Yes, this is a big word for some young children and if you
say it in parts .... it's easier - IM MU NI
ZA TIONS. This is placing very special vaccine onto your body to
prevent serious diseases. Years ago diseases like (these may be tough words to
say) Diphtheria, Tetanus, Whooping Cough, Polio, Measles, Mumps etc., made
children very very sick which no longer needs to happen.
Most immunizations
are given to you by needle when you are quite young (birth to around 15 months
old) and you probably don't remember getting them. You will get one more needle
usually just before you enter school and it may hurt a little bit (like a
mosquito bite or when your brother or sister pinches you). The vaccine in the
needle is very important in helping to keep you healthy and strong as you
continue to grow.
