 SWALLOWED OBJECTS - Swallowing
objects like small coins, plastic toys or other small items can be scary. The
best thing for children is to never place items in their mouths, even if they
are just fooling around because accidents do happen. Almost all of these small
size objects will go into the child's stomach and will pass right out of the
body -however, they could get caught in the throat. The doctor may take an
X-ray of your throat and neck area to see exactly where the object is stuck.
Then he will take a special instrument, reach down in your throat and take out
the object. If you have a baby brother or sister, then you should help your mom
and dad by making sure there are no coins (money) or small objects within reach
that the baby can place in his or her mouth and choke on.

TEETHING -
By the time that you are able to
read this or even
by the time that your parents will be reading this to you, your mouth will have
a full set of teeth. When you are born, however, you have no teeth at all and
it is in your first 2 -3 years that all of your teeth grow in. Usually at 3 - 6
months old, your first 4 teeth will start to show. You don't remember it now
but teething was a bit painful because they had to grow out through your gums
in your mouth.
