| SPEECH / STUTTERING - We talk with each other through speech (sounds made with our mouths and vocal chords). Some people have trouble talking for a number of reasons such as physical or emotional problems. Missing teeth, a different shaped nose or tongue and even problems with the lungs or larynx (our voice box) may interfere with normal sounds and speech. When a person stutters, it is when they repeat a sound of a word several times before you hear the whole word. An example of this is when a word such as Car is tried, it might come out like CaCaCaCa Car or Bike sound like BBBBBike. Good results in correcting stuttering have been made with the help of speech therapy either in class or individual sessions. |
