AACE History Highlights

by Diane Osberg

A complete record of activities of the Association, commencing with the inaugural meeting of enthusiastic continuing education practitioners in 1967, was compiled in 1984. It was at this time that all the 'boxes' of records were gathered into a central location and organized as the archives of the Association. A group of volunteers spent numerous hours sorting, filing, then writing in order to share the history of AACE with others. The completed documents were then circulated to the membership at the 1984 spring conference (and by mail to those not in attendance).

Annually, the records have been updated and circulated with the annual general meeting minutes. This year, we had to do a little catching up and compile data for three or four years. It appears that this task somehow did not reach the higher priority list amongst all of the other board responsibilities.

Any members interested in obtaining complete copies of the History Highlights of the Association may do so by calling the AACE Secretariat at 453-5988. It is the intention of the current board of directors to investigate the feasibility of producing a 'complete' document of the History Highlights for the 30th anniversary in 1998.
