Books for Babies® Displays

Books for Babies® helped celebrate Six Years of Healthy Babies on the Northshore of the Bay of Islands in February.

The coordinator presented a display at the Seniors' Hall in Cox's Cove, the Community Hall in McIvers, the Community Hall in Summerside and the Family Resource Centre at Northshore Elementary in Meadows.

Many children and parents stopped at the display and were given books, buttons, bookmarks and prizes!

It is wonderful to have these people partner with Books for Babies® in working to improve literacy in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Family Literacy Day

Literacy is important at any stage in life. Developing early childhood reading helps develop life-long learning. Literacy is recognized on National Literacy Day, January 27 each year.

This year Family Literacy Day was a huge success. The Information Table presented at the Valley Mall in Corner Brook was visited by approximately 200 children and their parents.

Fairway Honda donated books and coloring books. Three Activity Kits were drawn for and the winners were:

Four T-shirts from ABC Canada were also drawn for and the winners were:

• Cavelle Lucas
• Ryan Lowe
• Harriet McLellan
• Amanda Rumboldt
