First Ever Conference / Teleconference

Please set aside the evening of October 10, 2001 from 6:45 - 9:00 to meet and chat with fellow Books for Babies® members. This is the first time that Books for Babies® has hosted a general meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to get together and discuss important issues that we are facing such as:

  1. Fundraising
  2. Membership/Volunteer recruitment
  3. Expansion
  4. Policy setting

To find out more about this teleconference, or to register, please contact the provincial office. Information concerning sites will be forthcoming in September.

Update

Tote Bags

Great news! TD-Canada Trust has donated $4000 to the provincial Books for Babies® program to purchase cloth tote bags for distribution to all new parents where the program is in place. This bag will contain the initial package and will have the Books for Babies® logo and TD-Canada Trust logo imprinted on it.

This is a wonderful opportunity to increase our profile in the province and also to provide a more useful package for parents.

The launch of these new tote bags will take place in September 2001 and all initial package orders placed after the launch will include the tote bag.

Website

Thanks to the generosity shown by Literacy Development Council (LDC) of Newfoundland and Labrador, we are able to continue the Books for Babies® program until December. One of the projects aimed at improving communication is the construction of our very own website. This will be done with the help of NALD (National Adult Literacy Database). Items to be included are basic program information, learning tips, how to choose age-appropriate books, archived newsletters and links to other useful sites. If you have any suggestions for items to include, please forward them to the provincial office.
