A Public Awareness Initiative

Storyhour

In many areas in Newfoundland and Labrador Books for Babies® groups partner with the local library to offer a storyhour to children registered in the program. This partnership benefits all those involved. Libraries have the opportunity to increase usage, children hear stories and are exposed to the library environment, parents are able to interact with other parents and Books for Babies® increases its profile in the community. To initiate such a partnership, contact your local library or the provincial Books for Babies® office.

New Orders

Books for Babies® groups are advised that no orders will be filled until September as the office will be closed July and August. If you will need materials early in the fall, please submit your order as early as possible so that materials can be ordered from the suppliers.

Fundraising

Garden Party

Organize an old-fashioned garden party. Sell tickets to the event. Solicit donations of baked goods, tea and coffee. Have activities for the children and some nice background music. Send out flyers to announce the event.

Yard Sales

These are a big attraction in many areas of the province. Request donations of used goods and sell them for a profit. This is a fundraiser which can raise money with a small investment of time.
