Editor's Message:
It has been quite an experience to put this issue of the CASPer together. Before I began this project, I had no idea of the number of hours that would be necessary to get the job done!
It was great to read all the submissions; some made me laugh; some made me cry; all made me think about the people who took the time to write something to share with others. Thanks to all of you!
Thanks also to Jerry Hicks for assistance in arranging the copying and distribution.

Julie Kean Marks

Letter to the Editor

I have just read the December, 1997, issue of The CASPer, the first for me, and I felt compelled to share with your readers how much I enjoyed it.

I decided to read The CASPer during my lunch break. I spread my lunch out before me—a sandwich, soup and hot tea—turned the ringer down on my phone, closed my office door, and opened up The CASPer.

The first thing that impressed me was the professional format. The CASPer looks inviting to read. Then I started reading the submissions. One after the other, I read. I found myself smiling, wiping a tear, thinking of all that I have and should be more grateful for, feeling humbled by the courage of the writers and inspired by their joy in learning, feeling gladness that they receive the love and pride of their children for what they are doing.

I closed the CASPer feeling good that even though we have not been able to receive sponsorship for our CASP last year that we kept it going.

My lunch is done and I have turned the ringer up and opened my office door. I can't wait to read the next issue!
