NALD Executive Director Receives Literacy Award

Charles Ramsey, the Executive Director of the National Adult Literacy Database (NALD), was recently presented with the Lieutenant-Governor's Award for Early Childhood Literacy by New Brunswick Lieutenant Governor Marilyn Trenholme Counsell. Mr. Ramsey was honoured for his work in the Canadian literacy community and for being a role model in the area of early childhood literacy.

OLT Call for Proposals

The Office of Learning Technologies (OLT) has released a call for proposals for funding consideration for developing innovative learning opportunities through the use of technology.

The OLT was established by the Government of Canada within Human Resources Development Canada as a partner in building a culture of lifelong learning in Canada. The OLT works with public and private sector partners to promote technology-based learning and encourage innovation in this field.

The themes for this competion are:

  • "How learning technologies can help reduce inequities or barriers to learning in order that Canadians from all socio-economic, demographic and cultural groups in all regions of the country have access to high quality learning opportunities."

  • "How learning technologies can assist workers (and future workers) upgrade or improve their knowledge and abilities throughout their lives, in order to create a more skilled, educated and productive workforce and a diverse labour market in Canada."
