Retrieving, Opening and Saving

A Gem of a Computer Game
BY LINDA SCHWEBKE
How many of us often spend the greater part of any session
in the computer lab searching for students lost documents?
This situation can be remedied by giving students the following exercise on
retrieving, opening and saving documents. It is recommended that students work
through this game before they attempt to create, save and retrieve any of their
own compositions. While searching for the missing treasure, students will
develop the skills and confidence they require to proceed independ-ently in the
generation of computer documents.
Preparation:
On the hard disk, the instructor should create 8 files in a folder named
Treasure Hunt. The files should be named: Start, Day, I,
Animals, Male, Off, November and Dozen.
Instructions:
The instructor should guide students through the first two steps of the game
and then provide assistance according to the level and needs of the individuals
in the class.
