A Directory of Canadian Adult Literacy Research Now Online

CRD ScreenThe Directory of Canadian Adult Literacy Research in English was recently launched by the Centre for Research on Literacy at the University of Alberta . The directory is funded by the National Literacy Secretariat and is being hosted by NALD. It will help to make adult literacy research accessible to researchers and practitioners throughout Canada including those in remote areas. It is hoped that the directory will encourage further research and collaboration amongst those in the literacy community.

Completed and ongoing literacy research conducted in Canada since 1994 has been compiled. A description of each project and its findings is included along with a 500 word annotation. In some instances a full-text version can also be downloaded.

The directory can be found at http://www.nald.ca/crd/start.htm. It contains a very easy to use search tool similar to those found in library databases. You can search for research by author, publication year, title, subject, keyword, context or location. Research on technology and adult literacy can be found using the following subject words: computers, computer software, and technology.
