Follow these
instructions and all will be revealed!
| Literacy Objective: The learner will be able to
read and follow simple instructions. |
| Computer Objective: The learner will be able to
use the keys on the keyboard to type and erase characters. |
| Level: Beginner |
| Materials: A word processing program |
Introduction:
This lesson is a great way to help students become more
familiar with the keys on the keyboard. As with most exercises on a computer,
it also is a practical lesson in following written instructions. Students are
given instructions that tell them how to type a message, one letter at a time.
The difficult part is that the letters are not provided in the normal order.
The instructions must be followed exactly to come up with the correct message.
|
Task:
If you are introducing the keyboard to your students for
the first time, have the students complete the following exercise together, as
a group. Provide the instructions to them outloud so they can focus on finding
the keys without being held back by the reading. This also eliminates people
rushing ahead. |

times. |
| 4. Type two l's. |

|
After students have completed this exercise, provide them with a
similar exercise, with the instructions written on paper. Depending on the
reading level of the students, you may need to go over the instructions
together first before they attempt the exercise themselves.
