Worksheet Factory Software

If you are always looking for extra worksheets for your students, here’s a series of software just for you.

Mathematics Worksheet Factory Deluxe contains a large collection of math worksheets on a variety of topics such as place value, comparing and ordering numbers, number operations, factors and multiples, fractions, percent, measurement and angles. The software also contains templates for tables, graphs, number lines and math puzzles.

What makes this program especially useful is its flexibility. Keeping in mind we're talking about a standard worksheet format, the software allows you to customize the worksheets in numerous ways. You can customize the headers and footers to include your own titles, instructions, a date, a student’s name, and a worksheet number. You can also tailor the worksheet layout. For example, you define the number of questions on each page, the number of digits used in the questions, etc. Teachers in French programs may be interested to know that the worksheets will automatically display decimal numbers in the appropriate format based on the language chosen in the Regional Settings in Windows’ Control Panel.

If you find, after choosing from the many available parameters, that the worksheet still contains some questions you don't like, you have the option of changing them manually. If you have ever tried to create your own fraction worksheet in a regular word processing program, you will appreciate the simplicity of this feature.

Once you have specified the type of worksheet you want, the software then provides you with several different samples of this type of worksheet along with the corresponding answer sheets. The advantage of this software over regular workbooks is that you can save your favourite worksheets and print them out as many times as you’d like.

Mathematics Worksheet Factory Deluxe costs $20 US. For those of you on a tight budget, you can get Mathematics Worksheet Factory Lite, which contains worksheets on the basic math facts, free of charge.

The same company, WorksheetFactory.com, also produces Vocabulary Worksheet Factory. This software contains crossword puzzles, word searches, word jumble worksheets and matching worksheets.

All of the programs from this company are similar in design and generally easy to use except that creating word lists in Worksheet Factory is fairly involved. If you are willing to invest a little bit of time into figuring out how to do this, you can create all of the worksheets mentioned above using the same word list. A database of 3000 words does come with the software, but it isn’t organized in a way that makes it easy to pull out word lists based on certain themes.
