Destination: An Automated Information
Management System

BY MICHELLE MEILLEUR

The implementation of the Information Management System for Ontario Literacy and Basic Skills agencies is in process. At least one person from every agency has been trained, the software is installed and data is currently being entered in preparation for data transfer to the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU).

This database provides an efficient way of completing and submitting reports to MTCU. Once data entry is completed in the program, greater efficiency is achieved and less time is required for inputting monthly data, learner information, workshops, and services. The database is equipped with mechanisms for data transfer over the Internet. All the Information Management System Administrator needs to do is choose a specific field of information and the software extracts the data. Then, with a click of the mouse, raw data is transmitted.
