THE IMPORTANCE OF GETTING AN EDUCATION
Hello, my name is Shelley Roach. I am a single mother with two school-aged children. I'm writing to let people know difficult if is to raise by yourself, without a grade 12, and no experience behind you.
I am choosing to take my G.E.D. in September and actually finish it. I want my grade 12, because I would like a career move.
I love working with mentally and physically disabled children. I want a career in learning more about autism as it affects children. I know that I am probably sticking my neck out more than a giraffe would, but I am more than willing to accept the challenge.
My children are the world to me. They bring so much happiness in my life, that I sometimes take for granted. I really can't tell you how lucky I am. Parents of children with autism must find it being very stressful and frustrating. I, on the other hand would see it as a learning experience, and one I am up to learning more about.
Given the chance I could actually change from being an income assistance recipient to a career woman. I know my children would like to have a mother that is on a career for herself.
Maybe someday, hopefully in the near future they will have that. This would make me very proud of myself as well as its positive results in the raising of my children.
