Here parent, Donnie Howell,
poses with PRINTS facilitators, Helena Stevenson (1) and Kim Poley (r). Hats
off to Donnie who demonstrated what commitment and dedication really are.
Having worked a night shift until 8:00 am, instead of going to bed and getting
some well-earned rest, he arrived at the PRINTS Program at 9:30 and spent the
next hour and a half, making different kinds of books to support his children's
literacy learning. PRINTS wrap-up was held just before Christmas and Helena is
wearing her Santa Claus hat. |

PRINTS goes to
Africa
Thenjiwe Germann from
Zimbabwe, receives her Diploma as a PRINTS facilitator. Through sponsorship of
Canadian Crossroads International, Thenjiwe spent several months in Canada as
part of a cross-cultural exchange in community development focusing on parents
and children. Thenjiwe was based at MacMorran Community Centre, St. john's.
During that time she was able to take advantage of the PRINTS training and
plans to implement a PRINTS Program in her hometown of Bulawayo in Zimbabwe.
Thenjiwe is very much involved in helping children who are AIDS orphans in her
country. |
