Notice of Meeting and Election of Officers and Board

All members of Laubach Literacy of Canada (LLC) please take notice that the Annual Meeting of LLC shall take place at 9:00am, Saturday, May 24, 1997 at the Airliner Inn, Winnipeg, Manitoba. An election of officers and certain members of the Board of Directors will take place at this meeting.

Notice of Nominations

Subject to approval at the meeting the following is expected to take place:

  • Lark Gamey to be elected President
  • Jim Morrow to be elected Past-President

An election will be held in order to elect a new Vice-President, Lilla Sinanan has been nominated for this position.

The following Board member positions will be open (2 year term) and nominations will be accepted from the provincial organizations for: Québec and Prince Edward Island.

The following Board members are to be re-elected for a further two year term:

  • Alberta member: Shirley Sandul
  • Saskatchewan member: Unita Esau
  • Student Member: Clane Moss

If Lilla Sinanan is elected to the position of Vice-President, there will be a vacancy on the Board of Directors with respect to a Board member from NS (Ms. Sinanan's term as NS member will expire in 1998) and NS may recommend individuals to replace Ms. Sinanan for the balance of her term. The Board of Directors may then appoint an indivdual to replace Ms. Sinanan as NS member for the balance of her term.

Nominations for all open positions will be accepted until April 15, 1997.

Laubach Literacy of Canada is a key part of a national effort to help all people reach their full literate potential.

Mission

Laubach Literacy of Canada is a national non-profit volunteer organization. We are committed to raising the literacy level of Canadian society.

Our trained tutors work with people to improve their basic and functional skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, numeracy and other life skills. Our programs are adapted to the goals of the student. Materials and organizational support are available through local Laubach councils.
