Books
Book Sale

In honour of International Literacy Day the Literacy Central VI Bookstore will be holding a 2 for 1 sale, September 8th to 12th.

Buy 2 books, the second book (of equal or lesser value) is free, excluding classics, first editions and collectibles. Store hours are l0:00am to 5:00pm daily Monday to Saturday. Located downtown at 22 Commercial St. with a rear entrance off of Gordon St. (open, now that the theatre is finished)

Bag a Million

Rutherford Mall is distributing brown bags in the September 3rd Nanaimo Bulletin. If you take the bag full of books to the mall from September 3rd to 13th they will give you a free scratch card that could bag you a million dollars. Extra bags are available at Centre Court where we will have an information table set up. All of the books are donated to the Literacy Central VI bookstore.

Trophy
Reading Contest

We're running a contest with some of the larger offices in town. Individuals accumulate points for the number of items they read in a day. There will be prizes for individuals and a trophy for the office with the highest average per person.

Tag Day

We received permission from the City to hold a tag day on September 12th,to celebrate International Literacy Day. There will be volunteers strategically located around Nanaimo with boxes and cans clearly labelled "We Need To Read!". Please be generous.

Information Booth

There will be an information table set up in Woodgrove Centre Friday and Saturday, September 11th and 12th. Volunteers will be available to answer questions about the volunteer tutor program.
