IT'S A BEST SELLER!

Computer Basics 2000 book cover

Computer Basics 2000 produced by our computer technician Brian O'Rooney has been selling like hotcakes. This little booklet clearly explains some basic steps in using a computer and includes an introduction to the internet and email. We're selling it in our bookstore for $3.50. We have sold over a thousand copies since January. They've gone to schools and libraries all over the province.

JACQUELINE ON LEAVE!

Tutor Coordinator Jacqueline Webster is off on maternity leave again. We will miss her and we wish her well. We welcome Pam Johnson who will be filling in for the next year.

COMMUNITY ACCESS PROGRAM

Our CAP site has been kept busy with people checking their email, doing research and just chatting. This is a free service to the public partly funded by Industry Canada. All of our computer equipment has been donated and we have 10 computers connected to the internet for public use. We currently have a youth intern on a short term contract giving basic instruction and doing related computer work. Jeremy Barnhart is gaining experience and is funded via Community Futures Development Assoc. of B.C.

All of these projects are part of an initiative by Industry Canada to make Canada the most connected country in the world.
