BOOK DRIVES

Our thanks to the four shopping malls in Nanaimo; Country Club, Harbour Park, Rutherford and Wood grove. They held a book drive for us and "Books For Kids". After splitting up the books and sorting them we will be stocking the shelves in our bookstore with all new inventory

BOOK FAIR

We are organizing a book fair to be held in downtown Nanaimo, Saturday, August 11. All non profits, community organizations, book dealers, publishers and authors are invited to rent tables to sell books. They keep all their own proceeds. We will have authors doing readings, book appraisers, a Cake Walk and lots of other entertainment for the whole family. Hopefully this will become an annual event.

THE GREAT WALK

Our own Brian O'Rooney is in training for The Great Walk from Gold River to Tahsis (64K) on June 3rd. This is an annual event for individuals who raise money for the charity of their choice. Last year Valerie Hannan walked 53K and raised $1,400.00 for resource material for our learning centre.

So far this year we have received generous donations from Harmac Pacific, the Knights of Columbus, and the Ladies of the Moose. Brian and Literacy Central VI thank you!
