Happy New Year!

Our apologies for the lack of Newsletters last year. I'm going to blame it on the current tutor coordinator because she's been so busy she just never found time. Hopefully we will do better this year.

Ladysmith Resource Centre

The tutor program has made arrangements for tutoring space and in particular for a "volunteer" volunteer tutor coordinator at the Ladysmith Resource Centre. Ladysmith is fortunate that Christine Norris has retired from her teaching position at , lives in Ladysmith and just "loved" working with the tutor program when she filled in as tutor coordinator last year. This will enable those people who live in and around Ladysmith to access tutoring, resources and facilities.

Christmas Party

Christmas Party

Look at all that food! Another successful Christmas get together was held for Tutors, Learners, Bears & Beams, Bookstore volunteers, Board Members and staff. We collected 2 big boxes of books to donate to the Children's Toy Drive. Thank you to everyone who brought books.

Tutors Archie Wilkinson, Frank VanAmerongen and Bob Calderwood were honoured by Tutor Coordinator Pam Johnson for their long and outstanding contribution to the tutor program.

Window Display

While on the subject of Christmas those of you who didn't have the opportunity to see our window display can check it out on our web site (www.LiteracyNanaimo.org). Artist and volunteer Jeremy Barnhart won $200.00 for creating the best window painting in downtown Nanaimo. We also came 3rd in the Chamber of Commerce Spirit of Christmas 2001 competition in the category "businesses up to 10 employees".
