Staff Carolyn McWhinnie, Executive Director Literacy Nanaimo had a busy year last year holding two special events. These events would not have been a success without the help of many volunteers and in particular the committees' chair, Gerry Prouten. Now that we have these events under our belt, we will be holding them again this year. Laugh for Literacy
ScrabbleLiteracy Central VI will be holding its second Scrabble tournament March 6th. ![]() Last year's Scrabble event was very popular and really well organized. We had 43 participants and netted over $3,000.00. To participate in this year's event you need to raise a minimum of $50.00 in pledges and bring yourself to Beban Park before 9:00 am, Saturday, March 6th. If you have a Scrabble game, please bring that along. We have merchandise prizes and gift certificates. You will play three games. For the first game you will be randomly matched, but the second and third game matches will be based on the score you earned in the first game. We will provide a continental breakfast and lunch. Come out and have some fun for a good cause! Membership![]() It is time to renew your membership. As a charity it is
important for us to demonstrate that the community cares about what
we do. The way we do that is by the number of members we have.
We have enclosed a membership form that you can mail or fax back to us. |
