This is our second newsletter this year. Somehow in our busy days the newsletter gets ignored. We think we have a solution. We are forming a Newsletter Committee. We would like to publish a newsletter quarterly. If you would be interested in participating on the Newsletter Committee please call us at 754- 8988 and we will organize a meeting.

AGM 2002

Our Annual General Meeting was held Wednesday, June 12^th. We have 7 board members returning for another term and two new members: (pictured from left to right) Gary Edwards (Treasurer), Gerry Prouten, Val Little (Vice President), Pam Johnson, Barry Fulford (President), Wendy Smitka (Secretary), Eva Wilhelm, Cynthia Cantelon, and Valerie Fulford.

The Great Walk

Congratulations to Brian O'Rooney for completing the 63.5 kilometre walk from Gold River to Tahsis in 9 hours and 10 minutes. Valerie Hannan completed it in 14 hours and 5 minutes. They raised over $2000.00 in pledges.

Thank you to volunteer tutor Jean Manktelow for gathering pledges of $129.00 and congratulations for completing the walk in 16 hours 25 minutes. Now, that's determination.

Valerie moves on

Valerie Hannan had been our admin. assistant and BEARS coordinator since March of 1999. There were some major changes in her life this year and she made a decision to go back to school full time.

We were sorry to see her go; however, we wish her well. She stays in contact and is enrolled at and getting great marks. Her replacement is Linda Oman. Linda is a trained tutor and comes with considerable office experience.
