Phillip MacGlashing celebrates family literacy day

On Thursday, January 27, 2005, Phillip MacGlashing, a student at the YMCA CASP in Moncton, read to thirty children at an after school program at the YMCA.

Jennifer Joncas, Phillip’s CASP teacher, organized a treasure hunt for the fun event.

The group was split into two groups and everyone had a great time.

P.S. Phillip has been involved in the Learner Network since it first started back in June of 2002.

Heather Tremblay goes to Ottawa

With Greg Clark stepping down as President of the Learner Network, the Literacy Coalition asked Heather Tremblay, a former student of the Saint John Learning Exchange, to take on Greg’s duties with the Learner Action Network in Ottawa. Heather has just written her GED and will be returning to school in the very near future.

Heather was very happy to take on the challenge. She has already participated in a telephone conference call with students from across the country to help prepare for the meetings in Ottawa. Heather will also join the board of the Literacy Coalition on April 5th.

Heather flies to Canada’s Capital on March 31st and returns on April 3rd. Happy travels, Heather!! Best wishes for a great meeting!
