New Board members for the Alliance

photo of Karen ChandlerKaren Chandler is a field officer for Workplace Education PEI. She offers a wealth of experience in the education field, and serves on national committees for literacy and essential skills.

She has been a volunteer and a participant in our PGI Golf Tournament for Literacy and been a volunteer with the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

She and her colleague Ruth Rogerson authored the companion Instructors Guide to our Guide to Social Assistance in PEI. As an adult learner, Karen received her diploma in Adult Education from UPEI in 1999. She is a strong advocate for life-long learning.

“My experience working with adult learners has given me an appreciation for the barriers adults face in a learning situation and the benefits of enhancing literacy skills at any age.”


photo of Donna LangilleDonna Langille works for the Community Legal Information Association. Her skills include writing, research, facilitation and education.

Donna has extensive experience with non-profit groups, as both a board member and an employee. Some of the groups are Epilepsy PEI, Parkdale-Sherwood Head Start, Hensley Green Housing Co-op and the Hamilton Natural Foods Co-op.

As part of her time with Epilepsy-PEI she developed some understanding of brain development, learning issues and problems and adaptations. She provided information, education and support for individuals and families coping with epilepsy.

“In my paid work I have been providing verbal and written plain language information for ten years so I do understand the challenge, the need for it and the work remaining to do.”
