Students for Literacy@UPEI
At the Recognition Dinner on March 26 students shared comments about their volunteer experiences. What Ill remember most about this year is the time I sat down to read with a little girl and she started to tell me about Mary Cassatt, her favourite Impressionist artist - and I thought Oh my gosh, shes only 6! Roseanne Ive been involved with SFL for two years and this year was better than the last and Im sure that next year will be even better!! I will cherish the memories and smile when I think of all the fun. Debbie OT for Homework Club
Its been a great year, Family Literacy Day, my mad rush to complete training are things I will never forget. Jenn Gallé, OT for ESL My most interesting experiences with reading circle were getting to know what books were hot with children and I always enjoyed taking time out of a busy schedule to relax and share some of my favourite books with them. Ill certainly be back! Stacey Its been really great getting to know everyone involved with SFL. Reading with my learner has been fun and Ive really learned a lot. We read Calvin and Hobbes - little boy and his tiger. Hilarious! Joey
I volunteered with adults at the Holland College. It was a very good experience. The students were very sweet and appreciative of my help. This semester was especially wonderful with a lively class. Overall a great experience. Kelly Working with the children helped me decide to go into education. The best part of the day was giving away the free books. The childrens faces would light up! A great experience! Stacey I volunteered at Spring Park Elementary with the Homework Club. I enjoyed helping the kids. We worked well together. I hope to be involved with Students for Literacy again next year. Sarah |
