Message from the Chair We are aware of the change of seasons, but it’s hard to believe this winter is really over. The Literacy Alliance staff has been productive since the Fall with meetings, plain language workshops, operational plans, conferences, the Family Literacy Carousel, Scrabble Tournament and bursary awards. This is just the surface of the work that poured out of the Queen St. offices during these cold months. Spring brings finalization of plans for the PGI Golf Tournament, our major fund raiser of the year. This will be my first glimpse into the mysterious world of golf. I look forward to meeting new people at this, and other events during the summer. We gather on March 26 with our members for the Semi-Annual Meeting. In future editions of this newsletter we’ll let you know what the evening produces. Recent world events give us all pause. One thing that has made itself very clear to me, is the importance of the ability to understand the world around us through the written word, media, and computer technology. Never take it for granted and never deny it to anyone who wants to learn.
