Family Literacy Day 2000 |
![]() |
The Honourable Chester Gillan, Minister of Education, declared January 27, 2000 to be Family Literacy Day in Prince Edward Island. Joining him for the declaration were Carol OBrien and her children Nicole, back, Jennifer, right and Theresa. The PEI Literacy Alliance encourages everyone to read to a child in their lives. Research shows that even 15 minutes a day boosts a childs learning skills, as well as being fun! To help families and community groups celebrate Family Literacy Day, the Alliance provided over 500 family literacy kits containing bookmarks, posters and suggestions for activities. |
