Excerpt of the letter of nomination for Liz Nimmo

Liz has been a volunteer tutor with Laubach Literacy of Canada – PEI as well as Student-Tutor coordinator for Southern Kings. She has been President of the Southern Kings Laubach Literacy Council and President of the provincial organization. Laubach is a volunteer organization that offers free and confidential one-on-one tutoring to adults.

Ms. Nimmo has also served as vicechair and Chair of the PEI Literacy Alliance, a provincial umbrella organization of organizations with an interest in literacy.

Project L.O.V.E. (Let Older Volunteers Educate) and Project B.O.A.S.T. (Bringing Older Adults and Students Together) are currently benefiting from her volunteer energy.

Liz is a dedicated volunteer who brings the literacy message to all the other community committees that she works on. The PEILA is very pleased to nominate her for this award.
