Laubach Literacy of Canada-Nova Scotia Chapter Society is a non-profit,
volunteer
based, charitable organization. This provincial organization is responsible
for the administration required in order for
Laubach activity to take place in our province. Volunteers act as Board members
who ensure that our legal, financial and administrative responsibilities
are met; provide training to members; provide support,
funding, and resources for Councils; and represent NS at the national organization.
LLC-NS operates from a very small budget compromised mainly of donations. LLC-NS
gratefully accepts all donations and a
charitable giving tax receipt is available to donors.
Staffing
LLC-NS is pleased to announce the receipt of a grant from the
Cygnus Foundation. NS was impacted by the elimination of the Field
Service Coordinator positions across Canada by the national
organization, Laubach Literacy of Canada. The Cygnus Foundation funds have
enabled us to hire Susan King for a few hours per month take care of
the administrative
responsibilities of the
provincial organization and to provide support to Councils. Susan will work
out of the provincial office now located at the Cape Breton Literacy
Network
in Sydney. |
