Family Literacy Training at LPQ

LPQ has received funding from the National Literacy Secretariat to carry out a series of Family Literacy Training Sessions in Quebec.

This comprehensive program training combines best practices in Family Literacy and Volunteer Management and provides learning along a continuum beginning from toddler through elementary school. This training will target hard-to-reach adults whose literacy skills are weak. The purpose is to motivate them to enrich their children's lives through the written and spoken word while also encouraging them to improve their own skills.

Objectives of this training are:

  • To promote Family Literacy in Quebec by providing a series of proven and effective Family Literacy training sessions to practitioners in organisations and school boards in English Quebec in both urban and rural areas.

  • To provide Family Literacy training that addresses teaching and learning on a continuum for children from ages 0 - 2 yrs.; 2 - 4yrs;. 4yrs. through elementary school.

  • To link families and family literacy practices in community organisations and schools.

  • To work with these centres and establish a strong infrastructure, to enable them to incorporate these practices into their programmes and continue the routines this project has begun.

  • To prevent the possible duplication of services among literacy organisations by creating partnerships.

Watch the mail for details and a schedule of these sessions.
