The Centre for Literacy, Resource Catalogue

A resource catalogue by The Centre for Literacy is now available for purchase.

The catalogue offers a partial listing of almost 3000 of the items available at The Centre for borrowing or consulting. The subject headings have been assigned over the past two years using the Canadian Literacy Thesaurus with a small number of additional subject categories to reflect the broad nature of our collection which extends beyond adult literacy.

The price of the catalogue is $25.00 including postage for orders from Canada. For orders from the US the price is $25.00 US, which only covers surface mail.

"Come to the Library" Project

The British Columbia Library Association has completed a project entitled "Come to the Library", a series of four workbooks intended to introduce adult learners to public libraries and to reading for pleasure.

The workbooks are written at a Grade 6 level and invite learners to become familiar with the librarian and his/her role; using the library membership; different categories of books; computer, microfiche and/or card catalogues.

The series is available in Montreal at The Centre for Literacy and the Fraser Hickson Institute.

For more information or to order sets, contact: Thomas Quigley, Project manager, come to the Library, c/o BCLA, #110-6545 Bonsor Ave., Burnaby, BC, V5H 1H3.
